Job Summary

The incumbent of this position will be responsible for building new and maintaining current referral partner relationships for all of White’s Residential Programs.  He or she will serve as the main contact for residential referral sources and must be able to provide a thorough and complete explanation of White’s programs and services. This person will be directly responsible for increasing the number of qualified referrals White’s receives for its residential programs and will employ the proven tactics of customer relationship management, sales, public relations, marketing/communications (including digital strategies), and fundraising in order to be successful. This person needs to be self-motivated and driven to connect White’s mission to appropriate target audiences and be able to connect outside contacts to the appropriate person and/or department within the agency.


A Christian with strong convictions who is also in agreement with White’s mission statement, Statement of Faith, and Code of Conduct. A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Communications with sales experience required.  Applicants will be considered who possess a Human Services related degree and three or more years of experience submitting or receiving referrals for foster care, short and long term residential, or acute inpatient settings. Experience working in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Human/Social Services, Family and/or Consumer Sciences fields highly preferred; demonstrated understanding of the fields and governing principles is required.

Basic Responsibilities


Participate in the development of annual strategic marketing and sales plans with the VP and Executive Director of Residential Services, members of White’s Advancement Team and other key stakeholders, and drive the number of qualified referrals according to annual goals.

Develop and maintain relationships while educating referral sources about White’s Residential programs and services including: School, Clinical, Growing Teens for Life, Daily Living, and the Teaching Family Model.

Drive the number of qualified referrals White’s receives for its residential programs

Must maintain records within Blackbaud (Fundraising and Donor Management Software) documenting all sales/marketing activities and new referral partners.

Maintain frequent communication with the Residential Placement Supervisor to stay current on the availability of beds, the intake process, and the services provided within each program.

Represent White’s with integrity and professionalism at networking functions including POPAI Conference (Probation), other conferences, and events such as Lunch and Learns on White’s Campus.

Work in collaboration with Residential Case Managers to host referral sources during monthly and on-campus visits with their students.

Connect program staff with all referral partners as appropriate.

Deliver bi-weekly presentations and proposals in relation to referral partner growth to the VP and Executive Director of Residential Services.

Participate in bi-weekly enrollment meetings with the VP and Executive Director of Residential Services, Placement Supervisor, and other residential staff members to discuss pending referrals and placing agency contacts.

Maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions and key competitors both in assigned geographic area and throughout the state.

Assist in creating annual strategic marketing plans for assigned target market with the VP and Executive Director of Residential Services, members of White’s Advancement Team, and other key stakeholders.

Work in collaboration with the Director of Church Engagement (Family Services) and Director of Admissions (Compass Rose Academy) to create networking opportunities beneficial to each program.

Schedule professional tours of campus and programs and when appropriate, accompany those professionals on the tour.

Daily visits and outreach to potential professional sources/placing agencies including DCS, Probation Officers, Indiana Department of Corrections, and Collaborative Care.

Expand outreach to outside of Indiana to create new relationships and referral sources.

Receive and review placement inquiries from referral sources while the Placement Supervisor is on PTO.  Consult and work in collaboration with the Clinical Director and/or VP and Executive Director of Residential regarding admissions.

Skills, Supervision, Knowledge and Ability

  • Proficient knowledge of DSM V disorders and other pertinent clinical issues for each program.

  • Proficient knowledge of database management.

  • Proficient knowledge of the PC including word processing, e-mail, and web applications.

  • In-depth knowledge of the differentiating features (strengths) and limitations of each program.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent problem solving, prioritizing, and decision making skills.

  • Highly skilled in organization and time management.

  • Ability to deliver superior customer service and exercise diplomacy and tact.

  • Moderate to high levels of knowledge regarding digital marketing strategies.

Physical Demands of Position

  • Must be able to drive long distances to visit referral sources, conferences, and other targeted events.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must travel for extended periods of time and stay overnight in order to attend conferences and other marketing or networking events.
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.

Working Conditions

  • Regular work days will be 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • Events, meetings, conferences, and recruiting activities will often extend beyond these office hours and may include some weekends. Overnight travel will be required from time to time.

    Remaining true to our Quaker heritage and Josiah White’s vision, White’s Residential and Family Services’ primary reason for existence is to offer hope and transformation to children and families through Christ. As such, we have firm beliefs about the Christian faith and how we must act in accordance with our beliefs.

    This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. White’s Residential & Family Services’ board of directors serves as White’s highest, human interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application for the purposes of our agency’s faith and beliefs, practice, policy and discipline at work.

    We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God (II Timothy 3:15).

    We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (John 10:30).
